Out of the Fold member Mary McIntosh is showing work “Side By Side” with her former student and friend Melanie Missen-Keating (Mellymade Designs) at the Quay Gallery, Snape Maltings, near Aldeburgh, Suffolk from 23rd – 28th Oct 2026.
Both artists started as quilters, studying for City & Guild qualifications, but have then developed their experimental mixed media textile art techniques in quite different ways. Mary and Mel teach widely in East Anglia and throughout the UK and find joy in sharing their love of creativity and techniques with others.
Mary and Mel have been “Side By Side” at many textile events, particularly at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham each year, offering mutual support and friendship.
The inspiration for this exhibition is simply colour and light. Bringing joy at this gloomy time of year. And a celebration of friendship.
