A quiet walk on a Spring day ‘dropped’ into late January. A walk to notice, to relax, to just walk.
Walk away from.
Walk into.
Just walk.
The top corner of the field was flooded. I had to go round by the road. Not my usual route. However, I noticed some tiny dew drops catching the sunlight.

The dew drops were resting on some moss growing on a brick wall.

I walked on and noticed catkins with their tiny female pink flowers.

On round the top of the lake I rambled. Finally, back down the road to my front door.
It was the pairings that I noticed and that stayed with me that Spring day ‘dropped’ into late January; their dialogues together, if you will.
I pondered how I could develop the theme of the pairings?
- A pairs game that I used to play with my Dad and then my own children?
- Or a set of dominoes, perhaps?
The dominoes idea warmed on me – each tile has a different pairing; not just the ones that I saw on the walk.
Looking back at the photos in my memory and on my phone, I searched for colours and simple images to recreate: The dominoes were born and you are invited to play.
These will be exhibited at St Margaret’s gallery in Norwich from 23rd September to 4th October.
