Jenny Lam’s work will be shown with Art@One on the theme of ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ at Hemingford Gray House in Cambridgeshire on 21st and 22nd February 2026.
Both pieces are large hanging structures over 2 metres tall created with individual threads sewn together to suggest living branching, organic structures. They arise from something I want to express, a theme, feeling, a meaningful or significant event. I don’t plan the end result; it grows and develops into something that I haven’t forseen. There is a dialogue between my vision and the materials themselves. I am always surprised by the physical presence these textile structures seem to exude.
‘Between Two Worlds’ was created at a time of grief in which I felt physically uprooted and suspended from the world. The fragile roots are not in the ground, merely extending towards it.
‘A Continual Unfolding’ explores themes of alchemy, recognising that transmutation involves dissolution and revelation.
There are many other beautiful textile artworks being exhibited at the exhibition and well worth a visit.
