Three Out of the Fold members – Heather Evans, Mary McIntosh and Penny Evans – are exhibiting at the Spring into Textiles East Fair on 21st and 22nd February 2026.
The ‘Juxtaposition’ exhibition was first shown in full at Snape Maltings in October 2025 so if you missed it there is another chance to see some of that work.
Juxtaposition explores how the work of three very different artists can be shown together in a dialogue between opposites. Dark and light. Tradition and innovation. Rough and smooth. Bold and delicate. Why did the artists make those choices of materials and techniques? And is there a third dynamic when placed side by side?
Mary McIntosh says “Working as a textile artist, alone in the workroom for many hours, can be quite a solitary and even lonely space. Working alongside other artists can help stimulate the creative process and offer technical advice. It is immensly valuable. Hanging an exhibition with fellow artists can be stimulating too, particularly with the Juxtaposition exhibition as the placing of each piece was considered carefully”
Juxtaposition will have quite a small display at Textiles East Fair – just six boards and a table – but we hope to bring a flavour of our work to stimulate debate. All three artists will be stewarding at the show and would welcome questions and interaction with visitors. Mary will have a small trader stand nearby.
