Phillip’s inspiration for the Reflections exhibition came from observing reflections from plants on a Christmas decoration hanging in the garden. He had an image digitally printed and then enhanced lines and areas with hand stitch.
There have been times when hand stitch was not a favourite. However, exploring a range of threads and stitches has led to a renewed enthusiasm for seed stitch and Sorbello stitch in particular, stitches that allow the original design to still be visible.
The result will be exhibited as part of the Out of The Fold ‘Reflections’ series at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds 23rd – 28th September, and then with the group and ArtContex at The Minories 2nd – 5th October.
